The underlying theme must deal (directly or indirectly) with alternate universes (parallel universes). However, by NO means must these stories be science-fiction. Drama, historic, mystery, crime, thriller, horror, romance, fantasy, western, comedy, suspense, even poetry is a possibility (if done clever enough). (Word count for poetry will be taken into a different consideration).
Please include a short bio as a second attachment.
Submissions should be emailed to brokenkeyspublishing@gmail.com
Permission & Ownership
Ownership is the foundation of it all. If we don't know who owns the work it will not be published. So please, no pen names and no third party submissions. The writer needs to submit their own work.
You must own its copyright. (If you haven’t copyrighted it yet, or are unsure: If you are its original author, then you have copyright. If it has been previously published, you may not.)
If you have sold your work elsewhere you may not own it and may only have your name on it. If you want to include that work in a book someday you may have to get written permission. Submission to this anthology presumes you have deal with these issues already.
We will take this submission to this anthology as a statement and permission that you
a) do indeed have ownership of said work (and you, the author, take responsibility and legal liability should you not), and
b) that permission to reproduce it in print (and subsequent print runs & publications) and possible ebook publications is given upon submission.
Broken Keys Publishing does nor will not own these works once printed. You still maintain ownership, with the except of Broken Keys Publishing’s permission to reprint this anthology.
Compensation
There is no fee to submit a short story.
There will be no fee and no payment should your short story be selected. You will be credited as your story's author, in both this anthology’s credit page and a brief bio.
Once this anthology goes to print you will be given the option of purchasing copies for your own purposes and/or sales, at printing cost (plus a nominal administration fee).
Although it is too early to be certain, we are anticipating a cost of approximately $7.00 with a retail price of $19.99. As we get closer to final draft we will be able to solidify these numbers better.
You will be free to sell these copies at your will (retail price of $19.99) with these profits benefiting you directly.
